Trustix™ Offers Linux-based Office Server and Office Suite Through US Channel

Texum Technology, Inc. and Interpretis, Inc. Join As US-based Resellers

Trondheim, Norway and Research Triangle Park, NC (June 18, 2003) –Trustix, the IBM independent software vendor of security and network management solutions for Linux, announced today that its Small Office Server is now available through US channel partners. Trustix™ also announced that Texum Technology, Inc. and Interpretis, Inc. have joined its growing list of US-based resellers.

Trustix™ Small Office Server, built upon the hardened Trustix™ Linux distribution, Trustix™ Secure Linux, provides a web server, mail server, proxy server, and LAN server. The Small Office Server comes pre-installed on IBM eServer xSeries server hardware. Trustix™ also offers The Small Office Suite, a software only solution for installation onto existing hardware. In addition, the Trustix™ Small Office Firewall is available as a separate option for companies that do not already own a firewall product or would like to replace their existing firewall. These new offerings are aimed at small businesses with up to 25 network users and require no in-house Linux expertise.

Bill Claybrook, Senior Analyst at Aberdeen Group commented: “The Trustix™ Small Office Server provides a complete range of products, now for the first time targeted at the small business space. It provides a comprehensive alternative for small business looking for a cost-effective and easy-to-use solution.”

“Prior to this offering, our partners had to build “custom” Linux suites by pulling together components from a number of disparate vendors,” explained Teresa Spangler, Trustix™ General Manager, North America. “Trustix™ Small Office Server offers our partners and their customers a Linux alternative to proprietary suites such as Microsoft's Small Business Server.”

Building upon partnerships with IBM and Denver Solutions Group Trustix™ continues to expand its channel here in the US. Two new partners and DSG will immediately begin offering the Trustix™ Small Office Server as part of a complete line of Trustix™ security and network solutions.

Long Beach, CA-based Texum Technology, Inc. focuses on the development and sales of integrated data collection and network systems for enterprise accounts. Texum has been promoting and supporting Linux for 5 years, specializing in helping customers successfully migrate from Novell, MPE, Unix and Microsoft.

“There simply was not a complete Linux suite available that we could leverage across a variety of network environments and servers,” explained Asem Abusir, Texum CEO. “The Trustix™ Small Office Server is easy to implement and easy to maintain in any environment. The company also has built a truly partner-friendly culture, making it easy for us to do business with them.”

Interpretis Inc., with offices in Virginia and North Carolina, specializes in the installation and support of software, as well as system administration, application development and technical consultation. The company specializes in a number of different operating systems, including Linux, Embedded Linux, Free/OpenBSD, Windows, and Mac OS X.

About Trustix™ Small Office Server
Key benefits include increased security over proprietary alternatives, cost-effective end-user license terms and compatibility with Microsoft Windows management tools. The Trustix™ Small Office Server can be installed and configured either by a Trustix™ Authorized partner or even by the customers themselves where appropriate. Trustix™ Small Office Server supports centralized storage for users files, network caching to improve bandwidth utilization and centralized logon to improve security.

As well as providing benefits in ease of use and speed of configuration, Trustix™ Small Office Server offers substantial savings when compared to a proprietary equivalent suite of server-based solutions. It also supports 30-day versions of both RAV ANTIVIRUS anti-spam and anti-virus software and the proven NetVault backup and restore application from BakBone.

One distinct advantage of Trustix™ Small Office Server over its proprietary alternatives is the ability to install and run the separate server modules across multiple servers. Systems managers are not forced to install and run all server applications on a single piece of hardware. Upgrades to the professional range and a 50-user version are also available.

Trustix™ Small Office Server will be distributed though its existing channel of IBM xSeries distributors and resellers, including Denver Solutions
